US SHIPPING & HANDLING CHARGES

Our shipping and handling are actual costs plus $1.00 for US orders with a minimum charge of $6.35. The minimum charge for UPS or Priority Mail is based on a 1 pound package. If your shipping weight is less than 1 pound, you will probably find that you can add several more items without increasing the shipping cost. The estimated weight and cost in the shopping cart is updated as each item is added.

USPS Truck For orders weighing less than 1 pound and most orders weighing less than 2 pounds, Priority Mail will be the least expensive shipping method for residential addresses. The Post Office estimates 2 to 3 days for Priority Mail delivery. Since the delivery time is not guaranteed, we do not recommend Priority Mail for time critical orders.

Priority Mail Flat Rates: For most ligher weight orders, we can use a Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope or a Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box. For these cases your shipping and handling costs will be reduced to our minimum $6.35 charge.

UPS Truck UPS guarantees the day of delivery and provides tracking for all packages. Below is a United States map showing the time in transit for UPS Ground Delivery. See the UPS Time & Rate Calculator to determine the costs and delivery time guarantees for the different shipping options. We have daily UPS pick up and your order will be shipped from zip code 35801 in Huntsville, AL.
UPS Time in Transit

UPS Next Day Air, 2nd Day Air, or 3 Day Select may provide quicker delivery to your location and are available for an additional charge, based on the package weight, size and designation. We will attempt to ship the same day for orders of only a few items if received before noon Central Time. They will be shipped the next business day if they can not be shipped the day we receive your order. To ensure timely processing of an order for air shipment, please also give us a call for shopping cart or faxed orders.

Please note that the UPS guarantee is based on the date of the order shipment and the guarantee refers to business days. For example, Next Day Air packages shipped on Friday will be delivered on Monday (Tuesday if Monday is a holiday.). Saturday delivery for Next Day Air packages shipped on Friday or 2nd Day Air packages shipped on Thursday is available for an additional $15 charge. Put "Saturday delivery" in the special instruction in the shopping cart for this service. The $15 is not included in the shipping cost estimate.

For UPS shipping, the shopping cart cost estimate is based on delivery to a residential address. UPS defines a residential delivery as delivery to a location that is a home, including a business operating out of a home that does not have an entrance open to the public. If the delivery location could be construed as either residential or commercial, then the rates for residential delivery service are applied. UPS charges less for a commercial address. If appropriate, please indicate that your delivery address is a commercial address in the Special Instruction/comments block when you are checking out and we will reduce the shipping charge to the commercial rate.

Dimensional weight

UPS and the Post Office shipping costs are based on the higher of the actual weight or what is called the dimensional weight of the package. The dimensional weight is calculated based on the size of the package. The dimensional weight can be higher for shipments of light weight bulky items. For example, orders of several yards of light weight bulky fabric such as laminated foam or fiberfill, or orders for several dozen bra or swim cups, may have a higher dimensional weight than the actual weight.
The shipping cost estimate in the shopping cart does not include a dimensional weight calculation. In these cases, your shipping cost will be higher than the amount shown on your order.

Shipping Confirmation

For orders shipped by the Post Office, you will sent an email with the tracking number. For orders shipped by UPS, you will be sent an email with the tracking number and the guaranteed delivery date.
If you do not receive a confirmation email, you may send an email to to request it.

You can order by:

You may print your order from the shopping cart, or you can print our Order Form. To print our order form, you will need Acrobat Reader which is available for free at Get Adobe Reader. 3) Faxing your charge card order to 256-536-5488. You may print your order from the shopping cart, or you can print our Order Form.

Shopping Cart Order Confirmation

Shortly after you place your shopping cart order, you should receive an email confirming your order was initially processed. If you don't receive this order confirmation email, either there was an error in your email address, or the confirmation email was stopped by your spam blocker.
If you did not receive the confirmation email, you may send an email to to request it.

Small Order Surcharge

We have a $5.00 minimum for merchandise orders. There is a $1.00 small order surcharge for all merchandise or fabric sample orders under $15.00.

Item Minimums

For most fabrics, the minimum order is one yard. For laces and elastics, the minimum order is from 1 to 5 yards. The drop down menus start at the minimum number of yards for each item. If you change the quantity in the shopping cart to less than the minimum, your order will be delayed until we have contacted you to find out if you want to increase the quantity to the minimum or delete the item from your order.

Fabric Samples

If you are not familiar with a particular fabric or need a particular tone of a color, we suggest that you order fabric samples before ordering the fabric. We strive very hard to send you the finest fabrics and products available.

If you wish to order only fabric swatches/samples, our Fabric Samples page provides ordering instructions and a listing of all fabric samples. For orders with only fabric samples, shipping is free for US orders. For international orders (Charge card only), we will send First Class International and the Shipping and Handling Charge will be the actual postage. There is a $1.00 small order surcharge for sample orders under $10.00 for both US and international orders.

For orders containing merchandise and fabric samples, our regular Shipping & Handling Charges applies. There are no returns on fabric samples.

International Shipping

Charge Card orders only. Our shopping cart provides estimated shipping costs for several Post Office and UPS methods. These estimated costs do not include any duties or taxes imposed by your country.

We charge shipping cost plus a $2 Handling charge for the extra time required for completing the customs information.The shopping cart estimated shipping cost includes only a $1 Handling charge, so your actual charge may be slightly more. For shipment of light weight bulky products, the shipping charge may be based on the size of the package. If the price is signifantly more, we will email you for approval before shipping your package. Our minimum S&H charge is $6.35.

The following table show the characteristics of the different shipping methods. When you view your "Shopping Cart", if you input your Country & Zip/Postal Code and then click the "calculate" button, your estimated shipping costs for the available shipping methods are shown on the "Shipping Method" drop down menu.

*The Post Office also provides a guaranteed delivery date for Express Mail International to Australia, China, France (except Corsica and Monaco), Hong Kong, Japan, Republic of Korea (South Korea), Northern Ireland, Spain (except Canary Islands), and United Kingdom.

We use UPS Worldship and stamps.com for preparing shipping labels. We do not ship to countires for which we cannot prepare a shipping label.

The maximum weight of a First Class International package is 4 pounds and it will usually be the least expensive shipping method. Since First Class International cannot be insured, we ship First Class International for orders over $20 only if the customer agrees to be responsible for any loss or damage to the package. You may indicate your acceptance of this condition in the Special Instruction/comments block when you are checking out. If you do not indicate acceptance of this condition, we will email you for your acceptance. Preparation of your order will be delayed until we receive your acceptance.

If we are temporarily out of stock of an item, we will email you with the expected shipment date of the complete order. You will have the option of having only the in stock merchandise shipped or waiting for the complete order.If we do not receive a response within five business days, we will ship your order without the unavailabe item. We do not back order on international orders.

Customers are responsible for payment of duties and taxes.

UPS offers free routine customs clearance of UPS Worldwide Express Plus™, UPS Worldwide Express™, UPS Worldwide Express Saver™, and UPS Worldwide Expedited™. Customs brokerage charges are not included in the UPS Ground shipping charges for Canada.

When funds are not provided in advance by the customer, and UPS must post a bond to allow UPS shipments to be released in advance of payment to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), UPS charges a fee of 2.7 percent (minimum $6.00 on Worldwide Standard™; minimum $10 on UPS Worldwide Express Plus™, UPS Worldwide Express™, UPS Worldwide Express Saver™ and UPS Worldwide Expedited™) of the amount advanced by UPS. To avoid bond fees, call 1-800-PICK-UPS and ask about their Prepayment or Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) plans. UPS offers free routine customs clearance of UPS Worldwide Express™, UPS Worldwide Express Saver™ and UPS Worldwide Expedited™.

The UPS Canada website which provides additional information on customs clearance for UPS Customs Brokerage. If you do not want to use UPS Customs Brokerage, you can call UPS Canada at 800-742-5877 after you have received your tracking number and provide them the information on the Customs Brokerage you wish to use.

Shopping Cart Price Accuracy

Even though we check and double check the prices in the shopping cart, an occasional error can occur. If the shopping cart should have too high a price for an item, we will charge the correct lower price when we prepare the invoice. If the shopping cart should have too low a price for an item, we will contact you before completing your order. Please email our if you notice pricing errors or any website errors such as broken links.

Customer Privacy

We respect your right to privacy and we do not share email addresses, mail addresses, or any customer information with anyone. We do place your order information in our files to more easily process future orders.

Return Policy

If there is a mistake in your order, or if a product is defective, we will correct the problem at our expense.

If for some reason, you are not satisfied with any part of your purchase, you may return it (except for special orders, fabric samples, sale items, and a few products that state no returns in their description) for an exchange, refund or store credit.
      Cut products, such as fabric, laces, elastics, etc, can only receive a store credit.
      Returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee.
      Shipping charges are not refunded and the customer is responsible for return shipping.

RETURNS REQUIRE PRIOR AUTHORIZATION.
All return requests must be in writing and received within 3 weeks of your invoice date. To obtain a Return Authorization Number(RA#), email us at with the following information:
      Order number or Invoice Date
      Customer name and address
      Reason for returning product
      Item Number
      Quantity to be returned
      New item for exchange, if applicable
We will email you a RA# to be written on the outside of your package. Your returned merchandise must be received within 2 weeks of the date of your RA# email.

An exchange, refund, or store credit will be given for returned merchandise that is in its original saleable condition and has a RA#. Charge card refunds can take up to two weeks depending on your credit card bank.

Returned merchandise that is not in its original saleable condition or returns without a RA# will NOT be accepted. The merchandise will be returned at customer expense or discarded.

Declined Charges

If your credit card is declined, we will contact you once by phone and/or email using the contact information on your order. If we do not receive a response within five business days, your order will be cancelled. Once the order is cancelled you will have to place a new order through the website if you still want the products.

Returned checks are subject to a handling charge of $25.00.

Changes to our email addresses

We change our email addresses when we we start receiving a lot of spam to that address. If you have one of our email addresses in your address book, and receive a Returned Mail with no mailbox with that name, check our website for the new address. To keep any of our emails from being blocked, you can add our domain name @sewsassy.com to your Safe Senders List.
